The Fryburg Graduate Fellowship was created in 2006 by the Board of Directors of the Educational Foundation in Honor of the Fryburg Brothers that have lived the ideals of Sigma Pi Fraternity.

 

Dr. George C. Fryburg -  Nu'41
Upon graduation from Franklin & MarshallCollege, George received a fellowship to PennState where he remained until 1948 when he received his PhD in Physical Chemistry. During his years at PennState, he is credited with keeping Theta Chapter alive during WW II. The brothers rewarded him by electing him as Theta's delegate to the 1946 Convocation. After graduation, he served as Treasurer of the Theta Building Association.

Upon graduation he moved to
Cleveland, Ohio where he worked for NACA, which merged into NASA when it was created. He remained there for his entire career and retired to Ormond Beach, FL.

 

Frank C. Fryburg - Theta'49
Frank matriculated to PennState in January 1944. From November 1944 until August 1946, he served in the United States Navy. Upon graduation from PennState in May 1949 he entered the MBA program at the University of Pennsylvania's WhartonSchool and graduated in February 1951.

Frank worked for RCA Corp. for 37 years. Except for three years in
Paris, France (1981-84), his career was spent in Lancaster, PA. He served in numerous roles, primarily in the television picture tube division whose worldwide headquarters was located there. His highest position was Manager of Materials for the Picture Tube Division.

Frank's service to Sigma Pi began as a Province Archon in 1950. During his career, he served on the Board of Directors of all four corporations and served as head of three of them. He served as Grand Sage from 1962-64 and, with
JimHills, was responsible for moving the national headquarters from Elizabeth, NJ to Shadowwood in Vincennes, IN in 1964.

You can help endow the Fryburg Fellowship Fund for Graduate Students RIGHT NOW with a direct charitable donation. The money donated will be added to the originating endowment to permanently fund the scholarship.  As some companies have corporate matching programs, this may work best for some individuals who support the Fryburg Graduate Fellowship.

You can make a per mile pledge to support the Fryburg Fellowship Fund for Graduate Students.  Just return this flyer with your per mile pledge, and after the ride we will let you know how many miles were completed.
