1897 is the founding date of Tau Phi Delta, which later changed its name to what we all know today as Sigma Pi Fraternity. However, 1897 is also the name of the Annual Loyalty Campaign that has been developed by Fund Development Officer Josh Singleton (Grand Valley State, '07) for new donors to the Sigma Pi Educational Foundation to begin donating to the Foundation. These donations will help support the educational and program initiatives of both the Fraternity and Foundation. The 1897 Annual Loyalty Campaign will provide the financial instrument to allow Sigma Pi Fraternity to continue to meet our membership objectives and to relieve the financial burden on our undergraduate members.
The purpose of this campaign.
In the I Believe manual, it states on page 13 that, "The brother who becomes fully involved with Sigma Pi will continue to enjoy and benefit from it throughout his lifetime." There has never been a truer statement made, but oftentimes we wonder, "What assistance can I provide to continue to perpetuate the Sigma Pi experience?" Many younger alumni are unaware of the large impact that alumni donations have on the Fraternity - especially donations coming from those with limited financial resources. The 1897 Annual Loyalty Campaign allows those alumni with limited financial resources to contribute to the perpetuation and continued growth of Sigma Pi Fraternity.
How does it work?
Here are the basics of the program. Remember, though, that the steps involved can either be followed as presented below or you may opt to contribute at a different level depending on your financial capability.
- Annual: One time donation of $18.97
- Biannual: Two donations each year for a total of $37.94
- Quarterly: Four donations each year for a total of $75.88
- Monthly: One donation each month for a total of $227.64
